Last night, Sept 9/10, my automated meteor camera detected 17 meteors. One of which may have been a member of the September Perseid shower. The number of meteors is a little less than what my system has been detecting this month (so far 186 meteors over 9 nights for an average of ~21 meteors per night). There were patches of clouds moving overhead all night long so a few meteors were probably missed. There was no encore of the September Perseid outburst so we will have to wait till next year for another chance at an outburst.
An image and movie of the brightest meteor from last night’s outburst is posted at Spaceweather.com. The movie is real cool. When I figure out how to easily convert my meteor movies from avi to gif, I will post the interesting ones.
